Leeds festival - Day Three!!!

Sunday and the final day of the festival and my favourite day of the weekend, well that was untill they decided to make every band I wanted to see clash! Our first act of the day was Irish band 'Walking on cars' we were a little late shocker so missed some of the set, but what we did see was great. The lead singers husky vocals remind me of Charlie Simpson and who doesn't love his voice, I'm excited to heard more from them.

We'd heard there was a not so secret set at the nme stage from 'Foals' so we headed over ready. The rumours were of course true and they played a short but fantastic set, playing a couple of new tracks from their brand new album which sounded huge live. I forgot how great they are live after them being away for a bit but they are definitely on the gig list for autumn!

Next up a new fave 'Slaves' the energy and humour they bring to their live sets is great and they always get the crowd going. Definitely a must see live band as they are so much better to see perform as you get to see what they're about rather than two lads just shouting and banging the drums. We also saw them and 'Twin Atlantic' at the signing tent whilst we were hanging around between sets so of course I took a sneaky snap!

Then to the main stage for 'Pierce the Veil' a band I really love. They played a great set with all the favourites. Next up was 'Alexisonfire' but as nobody else wanted to see them we headed back to the nme stage for 'Circa waves'. I love their summery vibe and the lead singer has such a retro unique tone to his voice. They had a big crowd with huge singalongs throughout the set.

We stayed at the nme stage for 'Wolf Alice' one of my new favourite bands. I love all their tracks and their debut album is fantastic, it had only just came out when I saw them at Glastonbury so it was nice to know more of the tracks this time round. Ellie's voice always sounds perfect and how she screams out like she does and still sounds in tune I will never know. She had some guitar issues at the end of the set so ended up jumping on Theo's back and rolling around the stage, before he jumped into the crowd at the end of the set. I love how much energy they have and they always put on a great show.

They had slightly clashed with 'Pvris' so we headed straight over to the pit to catch the rest of their set. The sound wasn't too great for them but they still sounded great and I'm looking forward to seeing them again properly supporting 'Bring me the horizon' this winter. It was clashes galore as we whizzed over to the the main stage to try and catch some of 'Royal Blood'. We managed to see a few tracks which sounded huge, those guys sure know how to make a lot of noise!

Then it was what I'd been waiting for all weekend 'Bring me the horizon'! Devastatingly they clashed with one of my other favourite bands 'Catfish and the bottlemen' (cry), but we decided to go with Bmth as we'd seen Catfish more times in the last year, this does mean I must find tickets for Catfish in November now though! Bmth came out to a huge crowd playing new track 'Happy song' the atmosphere was electric and and it sounded so good live. Some bands are made for the main stage and others get lost in it, but they sure proved they were meant to be there. There was the most fitting sunset throughout the set as they went through tracks from 'sepmiternal' aswell as new track 'Throne' which went down a storm. The only older song they did play was 'Blessed with a curse' where Oli told everyone to get on shoulders, obviously I did as I was told! It was quite disappointing not to hear more old tracks too but then I guess there's only so much you can squeeze into a festival set. It was still amazing and my favourite act of the weekend. I love everything they have done and love that they have evolved but I do hope they don't forget their roots on their tour and play a mixture of the old and new stuff. 

Although I like Metallica and know it's a big deal they were headlining I've never really been a huge fan so decided to boycott the main stage and head back to  the nme stage. 'Twin Atlantic' played an awesome set with plenty of singalongs followed by 'Rebel sound'. I didn't really know what to expect from them as I didn't know much about them other than 'Chase & Status' were in it. They went through the generations playing older reggae tracks going into newer remixed Chase & Status tracks. The tent was packed and I actually thought my knees were going to set on fire after all the jumping and bouncing around we did. It was a great end to the festival and just what we needed to keep our energy high after 4 days of partying.

For day three I wore a paisley print bell sleeve wrapover playsuit from river island.  I wore my patent boots again, I was so glad I didn't have to wear wellies once all weekend! I accessoried with my inflatable backpack, layered necklace and floral headband. Obviously I still had my plaits in and hair art spray in from the day before. It did feel a little chalky by this point though so if you're going to put it in at a festival bare this in mind, as if you're not going to wash your hair it might not feel so great after a few days.So it's better to put it in half way through or on the last day.

Overall it was a fabulous weekend  (apart from my phone being stolen) with surprisingly good weather, for Leeds. I am gutted as this technically means summer is over now but I have so many Autumn/winter gigs booked already and many more planned so I think I'll survive!!

Leeds Festival - Day Two!!!

Saturday and day two of the festival was a little less jampacked but still full of clashes. The first band we wanted to see were actually on later but we still managed to miss them, worst time keepers ever! So we had a bit of time to kill when we got in the arena before the next band, we ended up watching 'Palma Violets' who were quite boring, never really been a fan. Then it was 'Panic! At the disco' a band I've liked for many years but never actually seen live. Although the line ups changed over the years and there's only two original members it's all about lead singer Brendon anyway, his voice was Incredible hitting some serious high notes especially when they did a queen cover. They played lots of classics aswell as newer tracks and it was a really fun set.

Then it was time for 'Don Broco' I'm loving their recently released album so was excited to see them, they did clash with 'All time Low' so we only stayed for some of the set but they were so fun, I really want to try and catch them on tour this autumn so I can see a full set. 'All Time low' are always fun and have great energy on stage. Every song was a singlalong and had the crowd jumping and dancing around, it did make us want to go to their autumn tour too though, our gig list is getting very long (eeek!!)

Then it was Bastille who I'd not seen for ages who were brilliant as usual, we managed to squeeze in some of 'Peace' then watched 'Alt-J'. 'Limp Bizkit' are a band I've liked since I was young and I was super excited to see them. 'Rollin' is my jam when it comes on in da club, they opened with it and the crowd went wild. The tent was packed with everyone singing along, it took me back to my youth with all the classics!

We headed over to the main stage to watch headliners 'Mumford and sons' who were much better than when I last saw them at Glastonbbury and the energy I used to love from them was back. Unfortunately my buzz was soon killed when we headed over to 'knife party' then I discovered my phone was missing, so the night was brought to an abrupt end!

For day two I wore this fab festival inspired playsuit with tie/tassel detail which I absolutely love, although it was a buggar to try and undo for the toilet. I wore a wool fringe waistcoat over the top, patent boots, inflatable backpack, choker and feather headdress. It hard to know what to do with your hair at festivals especially as my hair is so damaged at the moment. As I'd curled my hair on the Thursday it had gone quite flat so I plaited all of my hair in small plaits. I had some Fudge urban hair art sprays in turquoise and purple so sprayed some of the plaits different colours and my fringe purple for a more of a festival look.

Leeds Festival - Day One!!!

So I'd been waiting for what seems like forever for Leeds Festival to come around and as excited as I was I was also a little bit sad as it also marks the end of summer. Not like we've really had one this year but that's England for you. I usually go every year and with this years line up having so many bands I love on it, it was an absolute must! Unfortunately I got my phone stolen so don't have all the pictures I took so there is lack of band pictures, luckily I did take my old phone to take photos on too so all was not lost!

We travelled down on the Thursday and it was actually sunny for once. After pitching our tents and two trips to the car for luggage it was time to get on the drinks and meet up with our friends. There were a few bands playing in the arena including 'The Bohicas' and 'Pulled apart by horses' so we headed to watch them before dancing the night away to 'Jaguar skills' then in various tents untill they ended for the night. We never do know how to take it easy on the first night, oops!

So Friday and the first proper day of the festival our first band of the day was 'Lonely the Brave' although in our usual fashion we were running late so only caught the last couple of songs.

After that was 'The Gaslight anthem' who I'd never seen live before but they were great, I love the gravelly tone to lead singer Brian's voice. They are taking a break from the band so I'm glad I got to see them. 

After that we headed over to the pit to see 'Moose Blood' another band I hadn't seen before but was really impressed with. They sounded great live and just like on record. Next up was an energetic set from 'Turbowolf' the frontman reminded me of a circus ringmaster as he talked between songs in his glittery jacket. Then it was back to the main stage for 'The Maccabees' I've always liked them on record but was never that interested in seeing them live as I thought they would be quite boring but I was pleasantly surprised by their live set. They pulled in a good crowd with an energetic set full of new and older tracks and it wasn't one bit boring!

Then it was back to the pit for 'Beartooth' another band I've recently got into and really like, it was only a short set but they played a lot of my favourites. I made a quick dash to the festival Republic stage for 'Coasts' who were really great, I love their summery vibe but could only stay for 15 minutes of their set before heading back over to the pit for 'Bury Tomorrow'. There was so many clashes across the weekend so it was a case of rushing from stage to stage where possible and having to sacrifice some bands. I stayed for 20 minutes of their set which was great and I didn't want to leave but the nme stage was calling!

Years & Years had one of the biggest crowds of the weekend with the nme stage packed out. As usual it was a fun singalong set and one of my favourite acts of the weekend, Olly's voice is just outstanding! Then it was back to the main stage for 'Kendrick Lamar' I like alot of his tracks but have never been a huge fan, but he was great. The alcohol intake may have played a part but his set was one of the funnest of the weekend and we had a right boogie and a singlalong!

Headliners for the day were one of my favourite bands 'The Libertines'. I've been lucky enough to see them a few times now but was really looking forward to their set with the new album coming out. They were back on top form and seemed more together than ever before, I actually missed the smashing up of guitars and rolling around on the floor shenanigans I'm used to seeing from them. It was a great set and the new tracks sounded great live too.

We ended the night on a high dancing the night away at propaganda with Gary Powell from 'The Libertines' playing a fabulous dj set!

For day one I wore this amazing bright printed playsuit I got from Urban Outfitters. It is really oversized so I pulled it in with a chain belt, I wore a long fringe kimono over the top and patent boots. I accessoried with a chain detail choker, floral headband and inflatable backpack.
